王子の記事

その双子の王子は、母の命を奪ってこの世に生まれた。国民の祝福とは裏腹に、后を並々ならぬ執心で愛していた王は、内心双子の王子を殺してやりたい程憎んでいた。王は自分の跡継ぎの為に渋々双子の王子を養ったが、成長するにつれ、二人は容姿も性質もまるで違う事が分かった。百消丹 ひやくしようだん

　先に生まれた兄王子は、敵味方問わず恐れられた激しい気性の王に似ず、そして明るく利発な性格でありながら、月のように儚い美しさを持っていた后にも似ていなかった。他の子供が外で子供らしく遊んでいたら、兄王子は常に熱心に何かを探求しているような子供だった。
性霸2000幼くしてその分野の権威といわれる教授すら、舌を巻いてしまうような意見を言い、勉学の飲み込みが歴代の王子より異常に早い兄王子を、ある者は天才だと言い、またある者は、賞賛と妬みを込めて皮肉った。だが王はかえって兄王子が煩わしく思えた。

　逆に弟王子は、亡き王の后に似た美丈夫でありながら、幼少の頃より馬を操り、野を駆け回る武芸に秀でた子供だった。まさに亡き后生き写しで時に王の分身のように思える弟王子を、王は后の代わりのように愛し、弟王子もそれに応えたが、その愛情の裏返しのように、王は兄王子を激しく憎んでいた。ある時王は、憎しみをどうしても抑える事が出来ず、側に居た兄王子をいきなり殴りつけた。元来大人しい気質だった兄王子は、それを不思議に思ったが戯れだろうと思う事にした。そうでないと怖かったからだ。だがそれから王はたがが外れたように、臣下の前でも兄王子を口汚く嘲り、なぶり者にし、兄王子を次第に王宮から孤立させていった。

　哀れな兄王子は、王子にも関わらず、いつも乞食のようなぼろを着て異臭を漂わせ、部屋を追われたために、地べたで寝るようになり、好きだった勉強もさせて貰えなくなった。
三體牛鞭楽しみを奪われた兄王子は、それでも王子としての気品を持ち、このような処遇を嘆く事のないように努めたが、王子らしくないことがからかいの種となり、ついに誰も兄王子を敬う者はいなくなった。

王は后との間に長らく子が恵まれずにいた。その事に后はひどく気落ちした表情を見せ、そんな后を王は愛しいさえと思った。やがて后は王子を産んだ。産後の肥立ちが悪く、后は王子を腕に抱く事なく逝った。王子と引き換えに失った后を王は惜しんだが、思いなおしてこれからも后へ向ける筈だった愛情を、生まれた王子に注いだ。王は成長していく王子を見て、幸せの絶頂をかみ締めた。だが王は知らない。后が死の間際まで兄王子を愛していた事、そして兄王子を弟王子が殺すところを、偶然見た者が居る事、その者が敵国の密偵であった事を。

　その者はまず后にそれをうまく告げ、復讐心を巧みに煽った。そして后の産んだ王子にもそれを告げた。歯車がうまくかみ合えば、成長した王子は、母と兄王子の無念を一心に背負って、やがて王を殺すだろう。王はそれまで何一つ知らず、国中の信頼と栄誉を受けているに違いない。
